I don't know about you, but I am getting really excited about the new Muppets movie! We love the Muppets, I mean who doesn't?!? They have recently sent out activity sheets! I can't wait to print them out and enjoy with the kids!
Curious about the "plot?"
Muppets Most Wanted opens in theatres March 21st!!
This last week I won a beautiful Flamingo Round Petals Tablecloth and then a $25 gift card to BJ's restaurant! I'm excited! I haven't won anything recently so this is nice. I am hoping that in the next couple of weeks I can get a date night out with the husband. If that doesn't happen, then I will probably make it a ladies day out!
So, I have been hooked on this wonderful series written by Joanne Fluke. It is the Hannah Swensen's Mysteries. They are great little "cozy murder mystery" books that I just love to read! They all have wonderful recipes in them and it is so hard to read the book without wanting to stop and make the recipe! She has also released a Lake Eden Cookbook which has all the recipes in it and also includes some new ones never published! One recipe I have now made 3 times in the last week is her Black and White cookies! They taste like a brownie and a cookie all in one. They also remind me a bit like a chocolate crinkle! They are wonderful and you will just have to make them yourself! Good luck not having the whole family eat them all before you are done! Good thing it makes about 5-6 dozen!
Joanne Fluke's Black and Whites
DO NOT PREHEAT OVEN! DOUGH MUCH CHILL BEFORE BAKING!
2 cups Chocolate Chips (12 oz package)
3/4 cup Butter ( 1 1/2 sticks)
2 cups Brown Sugar
2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract
2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
1 Teaspoon Salt
2 Cups Flour (not sifted, packed down!)
1/2 Cup Powdered Sugar in a bowl for later
Melt the chocolate chips and butter in a large bowl in the microwave. It took about 2 to 2 1/2 minutes. Mix in the brown sugar and let it cool. (I did about 10-20 minutes)
Add in the eggs, one at a time, until mixed well.
Mix in the vanilla extract, baking powder, and salt.
Add the flour one cup at a time until well mixed.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and put into the fridge for at least 4 hrs. (Overnight is even better!)
When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Roll into 1-2 inch dough balls. This will get a bit messy but well worth it! Drop the dough balls into the powder sugar and coat them well.
Place them onto a greased cookie sheet and bake for 12 to 14 minutes. Don't worry about pressing them down, they will flatten as they cook!
Move to a wire rack after 1-2 minutes after pulling them out of the oven.
Grab a nice big glass of milk and try not to eat them all!
My little hiatus is almost over! I think I am finally getting things back in control so that I can get back to blogging regularly again! I am hoping to get a freezer meal up for y'all next Monday as I have an itch to do some freezer meals to help save some money and time! I have a few volunteers that want to do it too, so I'm thinking a freezer meals party might be happening soon! I hope to get a picture for wordless Wednesday up for y'all tomorrow and then Thursday I am going to share my favorite cookie recipe in the house right now, BLACK AND WHITES! I am loving my Joanne Fluke books right now and it is so hard not to try all the recipes in the books! This one I have made twice now and tweaked a bit to my liking and everyone that has tried one is in love.......now you will have to wait until Thursday to hear and see about it!! Hope y'all are having a great week! It will warm up this week!! Woohoo!
It snowed.....a lot........school was already called off for tomorrow at 4pm....THAT NEVER HAPPENS! So, I will be MIA for a bit longer as I take care of my three kiddos and help them enjoy the snow and being stuck in the house! Wish us luck!!!!
Yes, lots of soup this week! We are supposed to be getting 7-10" or more with the first snow storm. They haven't even mentioned yet how much they expect with the one 2 days after that! I have a feeling we will be doing soup in crock pot most the week and cuddling in blankets!
